A sense of audience can bring new life to fluency practice for many children. If they know they are going to be performing for a group of parents, another class, or even for each other, children see a reason to practice. Two effective strategies that lend themselves to performance are readers' theater and puppet shows, but even just having your student prepare to read a book aloud to a younger student can provide motivation.
