What does confidence building involve, and why is it preferred as the first attempt at conflict resolution?
What will be an ideal response?
Confidence building involves rebuilding and enhancing mutual trust and confidence between two conflicting parties. It can be the answer itself–as when the only reason for the conflict was that one party felt oppressed by the perceived power of the other–and it can be the backbone of other conflict-resolution skills.
It is preferred as the first resolution attempt because decisions are not easily made when anger is present, or when those involved do not perceive one another as trustworthy.
