Confrontational listening occurs when we listen carefully for flaws in a
message to refute them or attack a speaker in response. Confrontational listening is
disrespectful and occurs when we are certain that a speaker is wrong. It is important to

resolved with effective listening. In addition, confirming responses help others cope
more successfully with problems, manage upset feelings, and maintain both a positive

correlated with and, in some cases, found to directly result in improved resistance to
and recovery from disease and infections, enhanced psychological adjustment, and
reduced mortality.
