Discuss three recommendations for reaching consensus in groups. Provide an example to illustrate your response.

What will be an ideal response?

- Groups have a tendency to change topics and to get off track, so members should try to keep themselves oriented toward the group's goal.
- Members should be other oriented and sensitive to all ideas. Listen and do not constantly interrupt one another.
- Promote group member interaction and dialogue. It is important that everyone feels that his or her voice is heard and that no one withholds his or her views.
- Student examples will vary.
