You live in a city ravaged by a category 5 hurricane. You have no electricity or running water. Emergency workers are slow to respond. You and some friends decide to go to the local store to get bottled water. The store has been abandoned. You break the windows, enter the store and take only the water and non-perishable food you think you will need. Seeing no way to pay for the goods, you leave.
The police arrive at this point and arrest you. What law, if any, have you broken? What is your defense?
