Why would data need to be collected prior to conducting a simulation?
What will be an ideal response?
Data should be collected so the simulation modeler can set realistic parameters for the model. If customer arrivals are being simulated, the modeler would know exactly what the arrival pattern is rather than guessing or using an exponential interarrival time with constant parameters throughout the simulation period. Without some grounding in reality, the simulation would become a case of garbage in-garbage out and the results of the exercise would not be useful.
