Give an example of a speech topic that would be appropriate for the Monroe’s Motivated Sequence organizational pattern and explain why.
What will be an ideal response?
Examples will vary, but all examples should have an action-oriented persuasive goal. One example might be persuading students to drink more water. This topic lends itself well to this pattern because there is a definable need or problem (e.g., what they are drinking isn’t as healthy or most of us do not drink as much water as is recommended by doctors), a way to satisfy that need (drinking more water), and an easily visualized, more healthy ideal. There would also be a very clear call to action in this type of persuasive speech.
