Piaget theorized that we form cognitive schema through experiences and they are modified with each new experience. Describe the process of taking in new information
What will be an ideal response?
ANSWER: New information forms a schema. A new experience occurs, and that information is matched against existing schema. If it is a match, it is association. If it is not a match, it is disequilibrium until a match can be made. When that information is absorbed into existing schema, it is assimilation. The modified information is accommodation.
