How can a researcher record more exactly the events that occur during a field session?

What will be an ideal response?

1. Record key words and key phrases while in the field: Abstract key terms or sentences and write these down while indicating the time the conversation occurred.
2. Make notes about the sequence of events: Jot notes about what occurred before the noted action, what was observed, and what occurred following the noted events. This allows researchers to lay out scraps of field notes in sequence.
3. Limit the time you remain in the setting: Writing field notes takes about four times the length of time spent in the field. Researchers should limit time in the field to increase quality notes.
4. Write the full notes immediately after exiting the field: Memory erosion begins immediately and progresses rapidly. The longer the researcher waits to translate cryptic notes, the less he or she will remember.
5. Get your notes written before sharing them with others. Refrain from telling others about the events to keep from accidentally embellishing events, and as a result, flawing and contaminating important data.
