Compare the bodily hormonal events that occur right before a person eats breakfast and immediately after.

What will be an ideal response?

Right before a person eats breakfast, he or she is in the fasting phase. At this point, the person could be in either the short-term reservoir phase or the long-term reservoir, depending on when food was last eaten. In the short-term phase, the liver is producing glucagon to pull glycogen out and convert it to glucose. If in the long-term reservoir, fat tissue is being broken down to fuel the body and the brain. After eating, the body enters into the absorptive phase, and the release of insulin promotes the entry of glucose into cells and into the short-term reservoir as glycogen.
