What will be an ideal response?
Sleep is important since it allows us to rest our muscles, decrease metabolism, perform cellular maintenance in neurons, reorganize synapses, and strengthen memories. Since Collette is sleep deprived, she will react more severely than average to stressful events. She may develop symptoms of mental illness or may aggravate symptoms she already has. Inadequate sleep is a major cause of accidents so she would need to be extra careful especially while driving. Finally, sleeplessness activates the immune system as if she is sick.
