The ratio of river distance to straight-line distance is the sinuosity of the river. For straight streams it is less than 1.05, for winding and twisty streams is is between 1.05 and 1.5, for meandering streams, it is greater than 1.5. What value would you expect to find, based on the type of river this is? What value did you find?

What will be an ideal response?

The Sacramento River is meandering so I’d expect to find a value of 1.5, but the actual value is closer to 2.2.
