Explain what a needs assessment, training, and evaluation for cross-cultural training should look like.

What will be an ideal response?

As is true of any training program, needs assessment should precede actual training in order to incorporate the three key elements of CCT: the needs of the expatriate, the customization of design and content, and overall program quality (Littrell et al., 2006). To identify the needs of the expatriate, assess strengths and weaknesses with respect to interpersonal, cognitive, and self-maintenance skills, along with spousal and family needs. Customization can then proceed to meet the needs identified. In addition, CCT should be designed and delivered by individuals regarded as experts on the destination country (such as host-country nationals) as well as on the expatriation process (Littrell et al., 2006; Reiche et al., 2015). Finally, build in an evaluation component that addresses both performance in the overseas assignment, as well as a critique of training in preparing the expatriate and his or her family for their foreign assignment.
