How can you protect your identity when making Internet purchases?

What will be an ideal response?

You can protect your online identity by not sending credit card information by email. If you are planning to make a purchase online, work with only secure and reputable sites. Unless you are certain that a site is secure, avoid giving your credit card number online. In addition, try, whenever possible, to be sure that the company you are contacting is reputable and legitimate. Don't trust a site's security just because it says it is secure. Finally, beware of unsolicited attempts by individuals or companies to obtain personal or banking information. Remember that reputable companies will never call or send emails requesting personal information. If you receive such a request, there is a very good chance that someone is attempting to obtain information about you and perhaps steal your identity.
