What is the total fertility rate and the replacement fertility rate? How are they related?

What will be an ideal response?

The total fertility rate of a population is the number of offspring a woman would be expected to have during her reproductive years given the current age-specific birth rate. The replacement fertility rate is the number of children a woman must bear to replace herself with one daughter of reproductive age. Currently the total fertility rate is 2.6 and the replacement fertility rate in a developed country is 2.1 . As long as the total fertility rate exceeds the replacement rate, the human population will continue to grow.
