You are helping to plan a dam on a large river that enters the sea. Explain why you should be concerned about the viability of a beach resort 5 kilometers from the mouth of the river

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: The dam will trap sediment which would have gone to the sea. It is this sediment moving longshore which is a source of nourishment for nearby beaches. The change in sedimentation might actually make the beach's sediment balance negative. In that it is a resort beach, beach would start to disappear. Eventually, the beach would need to be nourished from another source if the money could be found to do so.
