Recycling, despite its economic, health and environmental benefits, does have critics. What do critics say are the disadvantages of recycling?

What will be an ideal response?

Critics primarily point to the cost of recycling as a disadvantage. They believe recycling poses a burden to citizens in areas where recycling is funded by taxation. They point out that in some areas, it is cheaper to put trash in landfills. Recycling also cuts into profits for landfill owners and incinerator owners. Additionally, some materials like glass are so cheap, it makes more economic sense to manufacture new than to recycle.

Critics also contend that recycling is inconvenient for some people.
