A hydrothermal vent ecosystem does not run on energy from the sun. Describe the source of its energy

What will be an ideal response?

At hydrothermal vents, hot water rich in dissolved minerals spews out from an opening on the ocean floor. The water is seawater that seeped into cracks in the ocean floor at the margins of tectonic plates and was heated by heat energy from within the Earth. Minerals in this water settle out when it mixes with the cold deep-sea water.

Chemoautotrophic bacteria and archaea that obtain energy by removing electrons from minerals are the main producers in food webs that include diverse invertebrates.
