Maria has a Rhetorical MDL. Explain what this means. Also, explain what Maria should expect when communicating with her co-workers, Tom, Emily, and Ron. Tom has an Expressive MDL; Emily has a Conventional MDL, and Ron has a Rhetorical MDL.

What will be an ideal response?

Maria has a Rhetorical MDL, meaning she is very concerned with the effects of her
messages on others. She tries to be flexible in her approach and adapt to the situation
so that her message will be received appropriately and effectively. When
communicating with Tom (who has an Expressive MDL), Maria should be aware that
Tom views communication as a way to express his feelings. She might misjudge him as
inconsiderate because of his emotional approach. When communication with Emily
(who has a Conventional MDL), Maria should remember that Emily views
communication as a social game with rules of appropriateness. She might misjudge
Emily as rigid and inflexible. Because Ron is also a Rhetorical communicator, Maria
should work to avoid misunderstanding each other’s goals.
