How do "technology general controls" differ from "automated controls"?

Review auditing standards or COSO's Internal Control - Integrated Framework to answer the following questions:

Technology general controls have an over arching effect over all technologies. They provide the
protective layering around individual systems and applications that contain automated controls. They
help ensure the continued proper operation of all technologies. For example, the requirements of a
password to login to the organization's financial reporting system would be an example of an technology
general control. Automated controls represent control activities mostly or wholly performed through
technology. Automated controls differ across individual business processes and applications. Automated
controls tend to be specific to a particular transaction process. For example, the Purchasing Software
may only allow a transaction to be entered if the vendor number matches that a pre-approved vendor
number contained in the Vendor Master File.
