Describe how the largest three credit reporting agencies impact your FICO credit score.
What will be an ideal response?
FICO uses reports from three major credit bureaus. However, not all companies report to all three bureaus. In addition, one bureau could have received erroneous information from a creditor about your account, or made an error on your report. Regardless, FICO only pulls your score from one of the bureaus at a time. Which one? It depends on the business which asks for your score. The business (such as the bank or the employer checking on your score) decides which score it wants. Essentially, FICO produces three scores for you: the Transunion FICO score, the Experian FICO score, and the Equifax FICO score. If you have an error on your Transunion credit report, then anyone who requests your Transunion FICO score may get a lower score than someone who pulls your Experian FICO score. Therefore, it is essential to make sure that all three of your reports are accurate, because you don't necessarily know which credit bureau's report FICO will use.
