Discuss the role of the prefrontal cortex in human emotions. Use the case study at the beginning of the chapter to support your answer.

What will be an ideal response?

The prefrontal cortex is the final destination for much of the brain's information about emotion before action is taken. Damage to the prefrontal area or severing its connections with the rest of the brain impairs people's ability to make rational judgments. People with deficiencies in the area are unable to restrain violent urges.
