Transitions are naturally stressful to families mostly due to the uncertainty that comes with any change in the family. For families of young children with delays or disabilities, these uncertainties are even more pronounced. There may be uncertainty and fear about what the next stage (change) will bring; when children enter into public education, there may be fears about how they will be received, what is expected of the child and family, uncertainty of how to locate services, and uncertainty about how other children will respond. Shifting priorities as children get older may also cause stress and uncertainty.
