Compare and contrast two strategies for training generalization. Describe how these might be used

What will be an ideal response?

Compare and contrast two strategies for training generalization:
(Student responses may vary based on strategies selected, but should include components of descriptions of the components and how they differ).
1) Train and Hope: Teach the skill or response in a particular setting and then hope that the skill or response generalizes to other settings.
2) Sequentially modify: Strategies used to teach the alter the behavior in one setting is applied to the behavior to all settings.
3) Introduce to natural maintaining contingencies: The concept that certain behaviors may be naturally reinforced by the environment
4) Train sufficient exemplars: Includes using multiple examples (positive and negative examples) of the behavior or skill to be taught, as well as using multiple settings, teachers and activities to assist with training for generalization.
5) Train loosely: The idea that by not providing explicitly structured environments of learning may assist with generalization.
6) Use indiscriminable contingencies: By providing intermittent reinforcement students are not sure when reinforcement may occur and thereby may assist with generalization.
7) Program common stimuli: Create a training situation that is similar to the natural setting. For example, if teaching sorting skills may use same materials the student would have to look for in the natural environment.
8) Use a lag schedule of reinforcement: Reinforce only responses that are different to previously reinforced responses from the same response class.
9) Mediate generalization: Teach students to monitor their own behavior through self-control and self-management techniques.
