How might antibiotics affect the function of the large intestine?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Because the large intestine contains large quantities of bacteria, antibiotics that kill these bacteria could have significant effects. In particular, the absorption of vitamin K and fatty acids may be reduced. Also, diarrhea can occur due to processes associated with the death of the resident bacteria.
