Briefly explain some of the advantages and disadvantages of living in social groups

What will be an ideal response?

Social animals face more competition for food, nesting sites, and other resources. They also tend to
contract diseases and parasites more easily, due to frequent contact between individuals. The
advantages of social behavior include safety in numbers for prey animals. Predators can take on larger
prey when working together. In higher animals, learning may take place more effectively in social
groups.
