Stimulus and response prompts are both design to help student acquire the skills needed for the task. Both should be systematically faded overtime to transfer stimulus control to the discriminative stimulus. Stimulus prompts consist of temporarily altering the stimulus in some form in order to assist the student with completing the task or responding correctly. Response prompts consist of providing the student with assistance to emit the correct response.
