Cognitive and Affective aspects of curriculum
Chapter 5 addresses two separate but related perspectives regarding curriculum. Choose one of the two perspectives and discuss the various types of presentations related to that perspective. Then, based on your reading, discussion, consideration of your own experiences and those of others, and careful reflection, describe your rationale for designating that perspective as the major approach to curriculum. Finally, provide a spirited explanation of why and when approaches associated with the other perspective should be used as the primary guide to curriculum.

Key elements that should appear in an appropriate response:
* Full credit for the first part of the assignment requires that the student select one of the two perspectives (either cognitive or affective) and clearly describe the curriculum approaches subsumed under that category.
* As a result of study, discussion, and reflection, the student should select one of the perspectives and provide important and logically defensible reasons for advocating its primacy in terms of curriculum presentation. The quality of the ideas (more so than the quantity) should relate to the addition or subtraction of points.
* For the third part of the essay, the student should take the opposite point of view and defend it with as much vigor as the earlier preference. Full credit also requires an identification and discussion of the various approaches subsumed under that category.
