What is a CODEC and why is it important?
What will be an ideal response?
An important part of any video player is the CODEC it uses. CODEC stands for coder-decoder and is the algorithm used to sample, digitize, and recreate the video (and audio) stream. One CODEC may compress better than another, while another may require a more powerful processor than another. A video file must be played with the same CODEC used to create the video file.
