Describe the process of locating an ICD-10-CM code

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: The process is the same as with ICD-9 in that the coder must first locate the term in the alphabetic index and then verify the code in the tabular list. In assigning the code, all relevant notations in both the alphabetic index and the tabular list must be read and considered to determine if any apply to the circumstances being reported.
