Briefly describe the communal meal that follows every main Sikh service.

What will be an ideal response?

Every gurdwara has a langar, a dining hall, attached to it. The term “langar” is also used for the free communal meal itself. An extension of Sikh service, this meal helps to build social and spiritual solidarity in the gurdwara. The food in the langar must be uniform and plain, to discourage wealthy Sikhs from using it to display their prosperity. Many Sikhs are vegetarian, so only vegetarian dishes are served in a langar. This allows any Sikh or visitor to eat there, and it keeps the meals simple and low cost. Sikhs usually eat in long rows, with different castes and classes mixed together.
