What advice would you give BH concerning her nutritional intake while she is having diarrhea? Explain the differences, if any, in her meal plan when the diarrhea stops. Take into consideration that when she has diarrhea, she also has a fever of 102º

BH is not going to feel like eating if she knows that it will result in diarrhea. However, for her colon to heal, it is important that she eat well, particularly protein. If she is not totally on liquids, she should try easily digested, well-cooked food that she chews very well. She should supplement her meals with appropriate liquid supplements. If diarrhea continues, an elemental feeding may be in order.
