Students will be arranged in small groups where they will have positive interdependence on each other, interact face-to-face, be individually accountable for the concepts to be learned, and work well together as group to achieve learning. For example, students could work on identifying characteristics of a set of minerals. The four students in the group will be given specific things to do during the activity. One will handle all materials, one will be in charge of conducting the experiment with the help of others in the group, one will record all data that is obtained, and one will report the group's findings to other students in the group. Although the work will be done cooperatively, each student will also be assessed individually to check of conceptual understanding.
