Discuss the diagnosis and complications of pancreatic cancer.

What will be an ideal response?

Pancreatic cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer-related death for both men and women and is responsible for 7.8% of all cancer-related deaths. Because pancreatic cancer can seldom be diagnosed when it is still localized and surgically resectable, there is only an 8.5% survival rate in five years. Pancreatic cancer is frequently diagnosed late due to the vague and nonspecific symptoms that accompany the disease; however, weight loss and anorexia are common symptoms at diagnosis. Pancreatic exocrine insufficiency due to obstruction of the pancreatic duct commonly results in malabsorption and steatorrhea. Pancreatic endocrine insufficiency can result in hyperglycemia and Type 3c diabetes.
