Describe how math is used in technical drawings.

What will be an ideal response?

Geometry concepts are common in technical drawings. When drawing by hand or through the use of computer-aided design programs, designers need to be familiar with and able to use mathematics to successfully create technical drawings. Designers commonly use terms such as parallel, perpendicular, intersecting, tangent, eccentric, and concentric when drawing. Angles and arcs are a part of many drawings, as is the use of polygon shapes, such as triangles, squares, rectangles, pentagons, and hexagons. Of course, the designer must also be able to add and subtract decimals, fractions, and degrees of arc.
