Describe the value of trust in an organization’s culture What disadvantages will a low- trust culture have for both its employees and overall function, and how are those problems mitigated when a high-trust culture is established?

What will be an ideal response?

A key goal of ethics training is to establish a high-integrity work culture with a
strong basis in trust between employees. Organizational trust means that employees believe they will be treated fairly by other employees and will not be taken advantage of in difficult situations. High levels of trust will reduce psychological barriers between employees and between employees and management. Greater information sharing occurs when problems arise, and high levels of trust make operations more efficient, enhancing both individual and organizational importance. High levels of trust also help retain valuable employees and to attract new ones. A low-trust culture damages organizational performance, leeching away manager and employee credibility and legitimacy, and goals and promises become increasingly difficult to believe in. Without trust, individuals and departments in an organization will pursue self-interest instead of collective interest.
