Egocentrism is the belief that everyone sees things as you do or the inability to see the world
from anyone else's perspective other than your own. It is not a choice of young children to be
egocentric but more of a marker of their cognitive development which is a product of their brain
development. Egocentric children are simply reflecting their cognitive development, not setting forth
a path towards being selfish adults. Selfishness is an attitude and egocentrism is a trait of
development.
