Explain why researchers should understand statistics before conducting a quantitative research study.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Answer would ideally include: Quantitative data techniques were designed for use with large numbers of participants to glean information about trends in populations and their subgroups. Because of this, quantitative data collection and analysis techniques go hand in hand, and quantitative researchers should understand the relationship between measurement, data collection, and analysis. While simply designing a study is important, one must know how measurement works before designing the best data collection and analysis methods to fulfill the study’s purpose. It is indeed true that how variables are measured directly affects data collection, which in turn directly affects analysis and finally, the results of the study. Therefore, the researcher should understand every step in the quantitative research process, beginning with design and ending with analysis and interpretation.
