It provides students with opportunities to demonstrate their mastery of a skill/concept through performance of a task which measures processes rather than focusing only on learning products, helpful because it offers students options for demonstrating their knowledge, does not rely exclusively on reading/writing, and frequently involves tasks presented within real-world contexts/lead to real-world outcomes. Various examples that demonstrate understanding of ‘authentic learning tasks' are acceptable.
