How can multicultural works be selected to represent other cultures fairly without bias?

What will be an ideal response?

1.Examples of multicultural arts and artifacts should be displayed and experienced in classrooms every day. Avoid trivializing the creative work of others by showing it only in the context of a particular holiday or art project.
2.Strive for balance. Collect examples from many racial and ethnic groups.
3.Respect the integrity of the works and the particular time, place, and person who created it.
4.Avoid disconnecting the works from their creators by having the children copy the symbols or the design of the work without exploring the original reasons the work was made. Making a paper copy of an African mask in a school setting is not the same as the ritualistic carving of a wooden mask by the African artist.
5.Avoid stereotypes. Collect and present works that show different racial and ethnic groups involved in all kinds of common activities. Make sure that the examples are not just from the past, but include art made by living artists.
