Much has been written about the differing responsibilities between men and women. Summarize how family responsibilities differ for men and women

What will be an ideal response?

* Even in dual-career families mothers tend to have primary responsibility for child care, whereas the tasks that men engage in tend to be sporadic and variable such as repairing appliances or mowing the lawn.
*84% of women spent time on household activities compared to 67% of men. With regards to cleaning and laundry, the breakdown is 20% men compared to 49% women. When comparing men to women on food preparation and cleanup, the numbers are 41% (men) to 68% (women). Women also spend more time (1 hour 20 minutes) in child-care activities than men (just under 1 hour).
* Wives are more responsible for finances, cleaning, transporting children to activities, and cooking; and husbands are more responsible for things like lawn mowing and repairs.
* These divisions of labor tend to produce a "second shift" at home for women.
