Why should the United States allocate resources to measure crime?

What will be an ideal response?

Measuring crimes tells citizens and policy makers a lot about our society. We measure crime to see if a policy is working. To see if there is a crime problem happening. To see if we are safe as a society. We have to police members of our society, without measuring crime we would not be able to assess what crimes are and are not being committed. Measure crime helps us ensure order in our society.
