Describe the composition of the Class I MHC molecule on a cell's surface
What will be an ideal response
The Class I MHC molecule is composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain complex. The alpha chain spans the cell
membrane with an external domain, a transmembrane domain, and an internal domain. The alpha chain is similar
in structure to a heavy chain immunoglobulin molecule. The beta chain, also called beta-2-microglobulin, is similar
in structure to a light chain immunoglobulin molecule, but its structure is constant and highly conserved. The
external domain of the Class I molecule is used to present foreign antigen to T cytotoxic cells.
