Explain how exercise intensity is determined in weight training

Exercise intensity is determined by expressing the weight lifted as a percent of the maximal amount of weight that can be lifted one time for that exercise (repetition maximum = RM). Thus, a 6 RM weight is one that can be lifted only 6 times.
