Describe the trials contained in a classic habituation-dishabituation paradigm. Be sure to

describe the infant's typical responses during each trial.

What will be an ideal response?

In the classic habituation study, the infant is shown a new stimulus across a series of
presentations (aka novelty period). The infant's initial interest in the stimulus is termed
the orienting response. In the habituation period, the researcher just shows the stimulus
continually or repeatedly. Gradually, the infant's attention will lower because they are
learning the relevant features of the stimulus, this process is termed habituation.  In the
dishabituation period, the researcher shows the infant a new stimulus, dishabituation
refers to the renewal of the orienting response, or attention, to the new stimulus.
