How do female inmate classification systems differ from those of men?
What will be an ideal response?
• Because traditionally classification systems did not account sufficiently for gender differences, they tended to overclassify women offenders and place them in prisons more secure than needed for their level of risk. Therefore, the BOP administratively reduced the number of points assigned for certain types of crimes (such as crimes of violence or use of a weapon during the offense) committed by women and was able to move a large percentage of the female inmate population to less secure prisons.
