Describe the Lashley–Wade model of stimulus generalization.

What will be an ideal response?

Lashley and Wade contend that organisms respond to stimuli that differ from the training stimulus because they are unable to distinguish between the generalization test stimulus and the conditioning stimulus. Thus, the inability to discriminate between the training and test stimulus is responsible for stimulus generalization. Stimulus generalization represents the failure to discriminate, discrimination prevents stimulus generalization, and a failure to discriminate leads to generalization.
