Explain the reinforcing factors (Column 3 ) of the PER worksheet
Reinforcing factors come from others or the environment and promote the continuation or repetitiveness of the target behavior. Some reinforcements and cues to act may be internal such as "a feeling of accomplishment" or "disease symptoms." The category prompts include reminders, positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and social support. In terms of the behavioral theories, column 3 encompasses the health belief model (HBM), social cognitive theory (SCT), social support (SS), and the social ecological model. Cues to act is a core construct of the HBM. Cues come before a behavior and nudge or remind us to complete an act. Behavioral reinforcements come after a behavior, as described in SCT. Social support is also a broad construct of SCT. Social support theory distinguishes the potential types of social support: emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal. These reinforcing factors come from two environmental levels of the social ecological model: interpersonal and the community. Column 3 represents the maintenance stage of change in the TTM. This last stage involves the sustainability of the behavior and its integration into one's lifestyle?
