How can Horney’s theory account for the effects that social anxiety has on personality?

What will be an ideal response?

The socially anxious person is similar to Horney’s concept of the withdrawn or compliant personality. Research suggests that socially anxious persons rely on strategies that minimize social interactions because of evaluation apprehension. They are afraid that they will be negatively evaluated and rejected by others, which is similar to Horney’s withdrawn personality, whereby people tend to withdraw from others in an effort to avoid being rejected and hurt.
