Briefly discuss the characteristics of the brain.

What will be an ideal response?

First, a neuroscientific view of the brain is that people are emotional beings who think, rather than thinking beings who have emotions (LeDoux, 1996). Second, the brain conducts many actions automatically and below the level of conscious control. Third, automatic functions that occur within the brain are located primarily in the occipital, parietal, and temporal lobes—back, top, and side of the brain. Fourth, the brain is plastic; the brain changes due to influences from the environment. Fifth, not all brains are alike, even though they are basically similar. Sixth, human brains differ from nonhuman brains. Seventh, research has found that the construction of meaning is very different from the processing of information.
